Soteria is a psychiatric treatment, which is aimed at younger patients experiencing their first schizophrenic episode. The treatment in the Soteria is based, among other things, on the therapeutic effect of its milieu (environment), with the understanding that this environment has both social (as a nonhierarchical "living community" without hierarchical separation between doctor and patient) and spatial aspects that complement each other synergistically.

The logo for the IAS (Internationale Arbeitsgemeinschaft Soteria) reflects the approach & mindset of Soteria by including a smiling face and a room with open doors. Moreover there’s an S (for Soteria) hidden in the logo.
